What We Do

HEAT-AMR

The Human-Environment-Animal Transdisciplinary Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Research Group conducts research on the One Health epidemiology of AMR at the intersection of human, environmental and animal health.

The core focus of HEAT-AMR is to develop an evidence base to inform policies, interventions and actions that utilize a One Health approach to tackle AMR.

What is One Health?

What is AMR?

Current Research Areas

  • Advancing the One Health integration of antimicrobial use and resistance surveillance to support antimicrobial stewardship policy and practice.

  • Promoting antimicrobial stewardship through practical diagnostic testing strategies for AMR in food animals.

  • Understanding the epidemiology of AMR transmission between food animals, humans, and the environment using modeling and molecular tools.

  • Working with stakeholders to understand, develop, and promote strategies, policies and practices for antimicrobial stewardship.
